Mexico Mission Trip

On our mission trip to Mexico we had 12 people, our whole family and 7 others. We flew out of Omaha on July 15th @ 6:00am so we went down to Omaha on July 14th. On our way down we hit a pretty bad storm. Their was plenty of wind, rain, & lightning, we also heard of tornadoes spotted about 20 minutes away from us. Sometimes you couldn't see the car in front of you because of the rain or you could hardly until the dimmer of the headlights popped out. It was nice to see a promise when we made it to our hotel.

We all got up before 3:30 so we could take the shuttle to the airport @ 4:00 A.M. Except after we got up we found out that our flight had been delayed from 6 to almost 9. So we all hung around the hotel until about 6 and then we went to the airport. Our flight then took off @ 9 and we made it to Phoenix. When we got to Phoenix and ran to our gate to catch our flight we found out our seats had already been sold : ( . We had a 9 hour layover in Phoenix, but during that time we went to the mall to eat, go to a movie, and look around. We then went back to the airport and then got into Mexico City @ around 12:30 A.M. We got out of customs and into our hotel at about 3 a.m. We were all pretty tired.

They are two great people that love and spend time with kids in villages 2 hours north of Mexico City. They drive to the villages every Sat. and Sun after working very long hours in their cleaning company Mon-Fri.

On our plane from Phoenix to Mexico City they bumped up 7 of us to first class, i guess to make up from the flight delay. It sure was a sweet ride.

The beautiful landscape-(it also helped that it was their rainy season). Traveling a few hours out of the city to a few small villages where we were going to be playing with the kids and helping with a summer program at the library (like a vacation bible school).

Hudson makin' a 2 pointer. We could hang with them in basketball but when it came to their futbol (soccer) we were all horrible.

Sydney got to have her hair done by someone at a salon. Some of Sydney's little friends she made wanted to give her a little gift. So they brought her to a friend's salon and she did her hair.

In Mexico you can ALWAYS fit one more in the car. One time their was a mini traffic jam because a pick-up had stopped to pick up a few more people in the back, it was jammed full of people maybe 20 people in the back you couldn't fit one more.

After getting Syd's hair done they came to our hotel for Male's B-day.

Male is the mom with her 6 children. She helped every day at the summer program and she turned 32 on that Thursday. It was probably the only birthday party she ever had. It was fun to have a cake for her and play with her kids.

Patty and Katie- Patty was one of the owners at our hotel we stayed at. Patty cooked supper and breakfast for us and she helped Katie with all of her food allergies. Patty was a HUGE HELP!
