Father's Day

Okay for Father's Day we went down the Platte River. We started at Overton and were trying to end up in Elm Creek. We had one canoe and one kayak. Sydney and Mom in the kayak and Dad, Kate, and Hudson in the canoe. Now my dad and Hudson had been down last year so they told us there was a wire everybody needed to duck for. But the Platte's a lot higher now (running at 2000 cubic ft/sec) so... We couldn't duck. My dad tried to hold up the wire for us to go underneath. We were um....... screaming, crying, my dad was thinking, and oh yes one of us wanted to TIP! (me) So the canoe went first and....... TIPPED! The people in the kayak thought they were safe but NO the kayak then took a little push and then Flipped OVER! [This was a double wire used to keep cows in.] [ My dad told us when those cows get in there boats nothing but wires are going to keep them in] There was a man on the shore that helped us flip the kayak back over, and gave us wonderful advice there might be another wire up ahead. Then I said to dad," I see another wire". Are you Sure? YES! So the canoe got over to the grass but the kayak kept on going. SO my dad did the jump out of the canoe and run trying to catch it but it was no use. So my dad was yelling out advice and they ducked and went on just fine. So Hudson and I were holding on to tall grass as hard as we could. Then dad got back in and we were back on our way and went on through too. So a little later we saw... Yes.. wire #3. But this time we knew what to do it was a double wire and so we went up to the embankment and walked wedged our way through the wires slowly. So we then went on and saw no more wires and enjoyed the ride. So when we were done it took about 2 1/2 hours or 11 miles. It all ended up okay and we all had maybe a pretty good time.

Hudson wanted to go talk to the people who put up the wire. He wanted to tell them that they had to take down the wire or he would go to the President. Sydney just wanted to take over the company.

would you do it again?

Sydney- No yesterday Yes today - if there were no wires.

Hudson- wanted to push Katie in [ So i don't know if that counts] or NO

Katie - YES

MOM- Yes

Dad- Yes

The total number idems lost 5. 2 pairs of sunglasses,

1 towel, 2 oars, + food.

P.S.- Katie thinks she saw a rattler snake leave a comment and tell me about it if you believe her. Dad thought it was a regular snake and laughs every time I mention it, Hudson thought it was root, Sydney BELIEVES ME!, and mom thought she didn't know or didn't want to answer.
